LinkedIn Video Tab

LinkedIn has introduced a major new feature: the “Video Tab,” designed to capitalize on the rising popularity of short videos. This trend has already been adopted by platforms like TikTok and Instagram Reels. Video content is becoming increasingly vital, as evidenced by LinkedIn’s own data:

  • The number of video uploads on LinkedIn surged by an impressive 34%.
  • 38% of Dutch professionals consider short videos to be the most effective and engaging way to consume information.

WhatsApp: username replaces phone number

Soon, it will be possible to send a message on WhatsApp without needing a contact’s phone number. With the introduction of usernames, users can send messages without exchanging phone numbers, enhancing privacy protection. This feature is especially useful for keeping private and business numbers separate. The release date has yet to be announced.

Meta develops an AI-drive search engine

According to a report from The Information, Meta is working on its own AI-powered search engine. Meta aims to provide direct answers with source references, positioning itself as a potential competitor to Google. Currently, Meta’s AI search function relies on Google Search and Microsoft Bing for real-time information on news, sports, and stock markets.

Apple Intelligence in Europe

European iPhone users can finally look forward to Apple’s AI features, known as "Apple Intelligence," starting in April next year. This will allow users to generate images and compose messages directly on their devices, thanks to a collaboration with OpenAI and ChatGPT. These AI features are already available in select countries on iPhones, iPads, and Mac computers. Due to strict European regulations on digital services, they are only supported on Apple products like the iPhone 15 Pro, iPhone 16 series, and iPads and Macs with an M1 chip.
