IMAX uses AI to translate films

IMAX is adopting artificial intelligence for speech translation and dubbing of films. The company is collaborating with Camb.ai, a Dubai-based startup specializing in AI-powered speech translation and dubbing. With this technology, IMAX aims to make content available in multiple languages faster and more affordably. By tapping into the growing demand for films in different languages, IMAX is making a smart move. However, it raises concerns for dubbers: will AI completely replace their profession?

Apple is working on its thinnest iPhone yet

Rumors suggest that the iPhone 17 Air, expected next year, will be exceptionally thin, with a thickness of only 5 to 6 millimeters. Is Bluesky the new alternative to X?

Bluesky, an emerging alternative to X (formerly Twitter), is growing at an impressive rate. The platform now has over 20 million users, with thousands more joining every day. Following Donald Trump’s victory in the U.S. presidential elections, the number of new accounts skyrocketed. Many former X users are switching to Bluesky due to concerns over Elon Musk and X’s potential role in influencing elections. However, with hundreds of millions of users annually, X remains the dominant player for now.

Hate listening to voice messages on WhatsApp? Good news!

WhatsApp is introducing a feature that converts voice messages to text—perfect for moments when you don’t have the time (or patience) to listen. Transcriptions are processed locally on your device, ensuring your privacy is protected. You can find the option to enable voice message transcriptions under ‘Chats’ in your settings. The feature will roll out to everyone in the coming weeks. For now, it’s only available in English on Android, but iPhones running iOS 17 or later also support Dutch.
